Trays, trays, trays.

Trays, trays, trays.

Trays are an important home accessory for both practical and aesthetic reasons. From a practical point of view, they can be used for carrying, holding, or displaying items and serving food and drinks.

Aesthetically, a beautiful tray is a lovely object and can be used as an elegant display tray.

At Forwood Design, Trays are an important part of our home accessory collection and we have designed a unique collection made from a variety of luxurious materials. The Forwood DesignTray Emporiam is a virtual showroom of malachite, lapis lazuli, faux tortoise shell, shagreen, linen and wooden trays. For the perfect tray handle, only the best will do and our choice of metals consists of stainless steel or brass.

We think different shaped trays are useful in different situations. With this in mind we have designed them in various shapes and sizes, rectangular, oval, round and octagonal.

Bar trays

Of course all of our trays work as bar trays, but our Lapis lazuli and Alexander malachite tray work particularly well. This is because the base is made from tempered glass so it does not matter if drinks are spilt or bottles leave ring marks as they can easily be wiped off. Our colourful Duchess tray collection made with aluminum and faux shagreen are ideal drinks serving tray because they are amazingly light.

Serving trays / Tea trays

Our classic tray collection in rectangle and oval faux shagreen with twig handles make wonderful decorative trays. We make them in two sizes, so they fit any space whether a console table or a large coffee table. The Deco collection is a very different design for a serving display tray. Influenced by the style of the 1920’s, we have made them both as a rectangular and a hexagon shape for variation.

Decorative trays

Nowadays we also use trays as decorative accessories and statement pieces in the home. Placed on a large ottoman or sitting on a kitchen counter a beautiful tray is great way to keep the house tidy and add an accent into the space. The Jules collection is particularly good as decorative trays with their unique curved handles. The selection of luxury bases, tortoise shell, malachite or shagreen gives one options to fit numerous colour schemes.

Wooden trays

Wooden trays are very traditional and have been used for millennia. I really thought we needed a wooden tray in our range and so we designed the Tamo ash drinks tray. I selected Japanese Tamo ash because of the unusual and stunning figurative grain. This veneer, combined with a modern brass handle is a real statement piece and a talking point.

We love to combine our trays with our bar accessories. Have a look at our classic stainless steel shagreen cocktail shakers, elegant bottle openers and stylish wine coasters.

Here are some useful tips about the care and maintenance of our tray collection.

  1. How should one clean a shagreen, malachite or lapis lazuli drinks tray?

Simply wipe down the serving tray with a damp cloth as soon as practical after a spill.

  1. How should one store a serving tray?

Finally a dry place where moisture is not present is ideal an ideal area to store a tray.

  1. How should you carry a heavy dish on a serving tray?

If you are carrying a heavy dish, make sure it is positioned on the tray so it is close to the body.
