#DesignItForwood: Susi Bellamy
Susi Bellamy creates vibrant interior collections in her studio inspired by her time living in Florence. An ex-Conde Nast fashion editor, Susi has a love for colour, texture, and composition that crosses over the boundaries of fashion and art, into interiors. After leaving the fashion world, she began painting abstract works that inspired her first cushion collection.
Since then, Susi has expanded her range into wallpapers, fabrics, and lampshades – with plans to diversify even further as her designs gain worldwide recognition. Her work is now stocked in Liberty, Heals, and independent interior boutiques.
Her designs possess a chaotic opulence – planes of rich colour combinations and inviting textures that make a bold addition to any room. Their subtle sheen adds depth and dimension, while her lampshades pair beautifully with Forwood Design’s shagreen lamp bases for a refined, artful finish.
Lighting
Lampshades are often a challenging accessory to select. Shapes, styles, and fabrics abound, and pairing the right base can be tricky! That’s why Forwood Design was delighted to feature Susi Bellamy’s new range of lampshades, showcasing her most popular designs alongside our Forwood Design Table Lamps.
Luxury Velvet Collection
The Velvet Marbled Collection recreates the organic movement of water through vibrant colour marbling, celebrating natural textures re-imagined for the modern home.
Our Cotton Lampshade Collection plays with retro palettes and bold, flat tones reminiscent of the 1960s and 70s, while our Linen Lampshade Collection combines neutral and acidic hues for an earthy, organic look. Each shade pairs beautifully with sleek perspex or brass-based lamps such as the Forwood Design Diss Column Lamp – elegant, versatile, and available in seal brown shagreen.
The Artist Behind the Designs
Susi’s Abstract Collection, inspired by Florence’s crumbling palazzos and layered landscapes, contrasts with her Collaged Collection, which merges stucco textures, geodes, and Renaissance religious imagery. Together, they showcase the evolution of her painterly approach to interior design.
