The Tamo Ash pen pot is an elegant letter holder with a contemporary twist. The pen pot is just part of our luxurious Japanese Tamo Ash desk collection which includes a desk tray, letter rack, waste bin and in tray. The pen pot is a perfect desk accessory and looks elegant in both contemporary and traditional interior settings.
Tamo Ash has spectacular almost three-dimensional figured grains. One is called ‘peanut’ figure because it has areas that actually do look rather like peanut or double-nut goober shells. Another is ‘waterfall’ figure because it looks like water falling over glass.
Apparently Tamo trees develop this peanut figure when strong vines encircle their trunks. This natural strangling restricts the flow of nutrients so the tree grows in spurts and this shows up in the grain. The Japanese requiring a good supply of figured tamo eventually learned to lash ropes around saplings reproducing the figure naturally made by vines.
We love the pen pot on a desk paired with the Tamo Desk Tray and Tamo Ash photo frames. The pen pot also makes a perfect birthday or Christmas gift. Of course it comes in a fabulous Forwood Design gift box.
Lastly the pen pot is exceptionally easy to clean. Just wipe with a dry cloth.
