Bring a calm ambiance to your home with these stylish Seed Tea Light Holders. The inspiration came from seed pods collected on a trek in the tropics. This Sandbox Seed Tea Light Holder in Antique Silver is part of Forwood Design’s Nature Collection. Molded in resin from the actual seed pod and finished in antiqued silver leaf, it makes a unique and fun tea light for any dining or kitchen table.
These seed pods have an interesting story. Before modern forms of pens were invented the trees’ unripe seed pods were sawn in half. They were then filled with sand and resealed to make decorative pen sandboxes. Also called pounce pots they were used like salt sellers to pour sand on to the wet ink to help it dry.
Another interesting fact is that the sandbox tree’s seeds, which are large segmented pods explode when ripe splitting into segments. The launched seeds can travel at 160 mph and fly as far as 100 meters.
These beautiful Sandbox seed Tea Light Holders in Antique silver make the perfect birthday, hostess or Christmas gift. We love them as a set of three, gold, silver and bronze. They look very elegant as a group on our side tables. Of course tea light holder comes in our fabulous Forwood design gift packaging.
